Threading Sakura earrings – Tutorial with Puca® beads

String your own Sakura earrings

Are you ready to bring a little spring magic into your jewellery box? Today I have a very special highlight for you: the tutorial for the beautiful Sakura earrings by designer Puca®.

These elegant pieces of jewellery are a homage to the cherry blossom and look incredibly refined thanks to the combination of Amos® and Samos® beads. And the best part? Right now, as spring arrives and the cherry trees are blooming, is the perfect time to start this project!

In the following instructions, I'll show you step by step how to string these little works of art yourself. Grab your all-inclusive kit or choose your own beads – and let's get creative together!

Time required: approx. 1 hour

Required material (for a pair of earrings)

24 pcs. Amos® par Puca®
6 pcs. Samos® par Puca®
10 pcs. round beads 3 mm (PR3)
Seed beads 15/0 (R15) and 8/0 (R8)
2 pcs. Cymbal Pilos bead caps (instead of the seed bead 8/0)
2 jump rings ∅ 4 mm and 2 ear wires
approx. 50 cm of fine thread, e.g. Wildfire or S-Lon Fire (∅ 0.15 mm) per earring
1 needle size #12
Scissors or thread burner

Important note: before starting work, check that all holes of the Amos and Samos beads are open

Choose my Sakura kit

Here's how to do it:

Step 1

Alternately pick up 3 Samos and 3 R15, close the circle, knot the thread and thread through an R15.

Step 2

Pick up 4 R15 and pass through the top hole of the Samos.

Step 3

Pick up 4 R15 and pass through the next R15.

Step 4

Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all 3 Samos and come out as shown in the picture.

Step 5

Pick up 4 Amos and pass through the 2 R15.

Step 6

Pick up 1 PR3 and pass through the next 2 R15.

Step 7

Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the entire circumference of the pattern and then thread back through the top hole of the Amos.

Step 8

Pick up 2 R15, thread through the PR3, pick up another 2 R15 and thread through the 4 Amos.

Step 9

Repeat step 8 for the rest of the pattern and thread through the Amos.

Step 10

Pick up 1 R15, 1 PR3 and 1 R15 and place them between the Amos (pass through the top hole of the Amos).

Step 11

Repeat step 10 twice more and then thread through the PR3.

Step 12

Pick up 3 R15, 1 Piros (or an R8) and 3 R15 and pass through the PR3. Repeat this thread path for reinforcement and sew in the thread.

Step 13

Attach the jump ring to the Piros (or R8) and attach the ear wire. Now you can make the second earring!
